Have you been keeping up with the news lately? This report is called "The Good Report" because the Good News is available to all who want to hear. The purpose of "The Good Report" is to lift up and encourage with that Good News. However, after listening to TV and reading the newspaper about what is happening within our country, I'm not so sure you'll hear any good news from those sources.
I have a question that will require an answer. If we can't answer it now, the answer will become obvious to us at a later date, and by then there will be no turning back. WHO OWNS AMERICA? It's scary. We might say that the Americans do; that I own my piece of land because my taxes are always paid on time and there is no mortgage on it. Yet, the question remains, who owns America? Whoever owns her, owns my land as well.
Why should America, once the richest country in the world borrow from other countries? And, if those loans are called in, who owns America then? Years ago the government sold our national parks. I thought THAT was creepy. The situation now is even creepier!
Don't despair. There is still GOOD NEWS. Nothing our government does surprises God. He knew from the foundation of the world that this johnny-come-lately nation would rise, I might add, by His power and its love of Him. He also foresaw and forewarned that if this newly formed nation did not keep Him as its head, it would tumble in disgrace. But God always, ALWAYS has a plan for those who do love Him, and there are thousands of us here in America. But what can we do to stop the downward spiral?
I am one person, but then so are you. Two can put to flight ten thousand. That's what the Word says. But how? What can the two of us, the three of us, the thousands of us do? I asked myself that question this morning. Do you know what answer I received? Micah 6:8 "He has shown you, oh man...what does the Lord require of you but to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God? (If a whole nation of us were doing that, we wouldn't be in the mess we're in right now!)
Some have power in Washington, others have clout in other high places. But ALL of us need to start where we are, in the position of life God put us.We need to ask ourselves, "In what area of my life have I not done justly, loved, or shown mercy? When did I stop walking humbly before my God?" That's where we need to begin. It appears that we each need to take another look at our attitude and relationship toward others and our walk with God. That is the requirement; that is where each of us must start.
Is it too late to save America? Who knows? Will God be with His children if America goes the way of other countries who have forgotten Him? Will you and I, in our life time, become part of an underground church because godless countries have staked their claim on American properties? God knows.
What I know, and this is the Good News, is that God will never forsake His children. We will always find a hiding place, a refuge in Him. He will always provide for His own. Now is not the time to allow fear to overtake us. Remember, God has not given us the spirit of fear but of power and love and a sound mind! As Romans 8:31 says, "If God be for us, who can be against us?"
We can still put on our dancing shoes. What other people can dance in the face of adversity? Only those who claim the name of Jesus, those who are sealed with His Spirit. Hey, that's you and me!
